Squarespace Honors Pride 2019

Since the Stonewall Riots in 1969, the LGBTQIA+ community and its allies have come together for a celebration of pride, love, diversity and acceptance all over the world. This year, in support of Pride and in honor of the 50th anniversary of the riots, Squarespace is excited to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community across all three of our office locations with a project called Stand Proud.

Stand Proud is a statement of representation, resilience, resistance, and acceptance that focuses on diverse voices and perspectives on what it means to be LGBTQIA+. We have collaborated with Squarespace customer CONFETTISYSTEM to transform the facade of our New York headquarters in the West Village with a colorful and dynamic art installation that is live starting today. This piece reimagines the colors of the original Pride flag with the goal of extending the spectrum and showcasing a more diverse and inclusive representation of the LGBTQIA+ experience. We’ll be celebrating in our Portland and Dublin offices with custom window vinyls and confetti sculptures also designed by CONFETTISYSTEM.

In addition to the facade installations, we have partnered with renowned queer photographer and Squarespace customer Ryan Pfluger to showcase a special collection of his work in our lobby. The gallery will feature Ryan’s portraits of five Squarespace customers who represent the diversity of the queer experience, as well as their personal stories.

We are hosting a community photography event in our lobby where Ryan will be shooting portraits of the LGBTQIA+ community, which will be open to the public. If you’re celebrating in New York, we welcome you to stop by our office at 8 Clarkson Street on Wednesday, June 26th from 4-7 pm to share what Pride means to you and to have your portrait taken by Ryan. These photos and experiences will be shared online alongside the portraits of our featured customers on the Stand Proud website.

There will be an Opening Reception following the portrait sessions from 6-8 pm in our lobby, where we are inviting the general public to enjoy refreshments while interacting with the art.

The installation and portraits will be live throughout final week of World Pride from June 21st-31st. Please join us, and share your stories and photos using the hashtags #StandProud and #Queerspace. We look forward to celebrating with you.
