iPhone Giveaway Update: Enter Once, Forever

Wow.

At the half point in our Twitter iPhone Gift Card Giveaway, we're all pretty darn wowed by the response.

While, of course, we hoped and anticipated that this would all be a giant success, we have been absolutely blown away by the enthusiasm, excitement and participation of the Twitterverse-at-large. We've received tens of thousands of tweets so far, have gotten thousands of new followers, tons of great comments right here on our blog. So, first and foremost, THANKS!

That said -- we want to take a moment to make an important change:

  • Starting from today's entry period (the prize dated June 23rd), and continuing to the end of the contest, tweeting "#squarespace" a SINGLE TIME enters you into the contest in perpetuity until all phones are given away

The rules of this contest were conceived for a much smaller audience, and is the first time we've ever run something like this. While we think it's great to see people tacking on #squarespace left and right, it wasn't our intention to have Twitter so consumed by the nature of this campaign. This change also implies that tweeting multiple times will not improve your chances of winning on a going forward basis.

Also, there have been various questions about whether or not an iPhone is being actually given away. As was originally posted to our front rules page, the detailed rules page, in our FAQ, and to our Twitter updates: You're entering to win a $199 iPhone gift card (http://store.apple.com/us/personalize/iphone?mco=MTc1MDE&product=MB891LL/A) usable towards an iPhone, upgrade, or anything else at the Apple store. Between starting this contest right before the iPhone 3G S launch (we couldn't even purchase them), and the issues surrounding iPhone activation from AT&T -- Apple advised us this was the best way to conduct the giveaway, and we agreed. Most of our winners are actually pleased at the flexibility of winning a gift card instead of a physical product, and given that the old iPhone 3G is now $99 with contract, the prize seems better than winning the old model anyway.

Thanks again for all of the positivity surrounding this event. We wanted this campaign to be a thank you for the success we've seen over the past few months, and with this change, I hope this can become a much more non-intrusive part of everyone's day.

Our F.A.Q. has been updated as well.

LIVE Diggnation Recap

Diggnation Clip from Squarespace on Vimeo.

If you were lucky enough to be in NYC last week for Internet Week...AND you were lucky enough to make it out to Webster Hall on Thursday night for the LIVE Diggnation taping, then you already know how much fun was had.

We were thrilled beyond belief to be asked by our friends at Revision3 to be one of the co-sponsors of the event, and with a crowd of 1000+ screaming Diggnation fans, we took our task of entertaining the masses, very, VERY seriously.

We had a bevy of pretty girls (dubbed "The Squarespace Girls" by everyone there) who worked the crowd pre-show by giving out Squarespace tees and free drink tickets. But of course, they wanted to have some fun and didn't feel like just giving the goods away. So the Squarespace Girls had guys dancing, doing push-ups, and even a few cartwheels (much to the dismay of everyone around them!).

But the real fun began once the Diggnation rock stars, Kevin Rose and Alex Albrecht, took the stage. Mid-show we had the Squarespace Girls run out and give the guys a t-shirt rocket launcher (!!), which they then proceeded to use to shoot Squarespace tees right into the audience. It was pretty insane. And A-W-E-S-O-M-E.

To watch the rest of the LIVE Diggnation episode, tune in here. And there are loads of additional photos here.

iPhone Giveaway F.A.Q.

Ok, so despite our handy, dandy little rules and information page, it seems like you guys have still have a LOAD of questions about our 30 iPhones in 30 Days giveaway. In lieu of repeating ourselves every day on Twitter from here until doomsday (i.e. July 7th when our contest ends), herewith are some answers to the most frequently asked questions that keep coming up:

What the heck is Squarespace?

We're glad you asked! Squarespace is online web publishing platform like none other you've ever seen. The website you are on right now is built on Squarespace, as are all of these. And if you have a blog or website, we think you should be using us too! Check out this video tour to get a better idea of how Squarespace works and feel free to sign up for our 14-day free trial (no credit card required!).

Why are you guys doing this giveaway?

We were looking for a way to show our appreciation to our fans and to say thanks for helping us grow 100% over the last few months! With our own Squarespace iPhone app in the works, we thought giving away iPhones would be a great way to celebrate with everyone who loves Squarespace just as much as we do!

What are you giving away? An actual iPhone or a gift certificate?

We are giving each winner an Apple gift certificate for $199. This can actually be used to purchase any apple good/service that you would like.

I want an iPhone! How do I enter this giveaway? (UPDATED)

In order to enter yourself in our daily giveaway, you must send out a tweet with#squarespace included somewhere within your 140 characters. This, obviously, means that you must have a Twitter account to participate. As of 6/22, you only need to send out this tweet ONCE in order to enter yourself in the giveaway through the July 7 end date.

If I include @Squarespace in my tweet, is that considered an entry?

No. You can feel free to include @squarespace as well, but you must also have a #squarespace included somewhere in your tweet in order to officially be considered an entry.

Do I need to say anything specifically in my Tweet? Do I have to retweet anything? Should I tweet what the person who won the day before tweeted?

No. No. And if you want, go for it, but it is not necessary. In order to enter, all you need is to include #squarespace, however, we certainly encourage everyone to be as creative as possible.

Do I need to re-enter the giveaway every day, or is one tweet enough to keep me in the running for the whole month? (UPDATED)

As of 6/23, you need only send out ONE tweet with #Squarespace to enter yourself in the giveaway. Your one tweet will ensure your eligibility throughout the remaining days of the competition until 7/7.

Will entering multiple times help my chances of winning? (UPDATED)

Entering multiple times will NOT increase your chances of winning.

If I have a protected Twitter account, can I still enter the giveaway?

Unfortunately, if you have a protected account, we will not be able to see your tweet in the Twitter stream. As we are not able to easily follow everyone back, you can choose to make your account unprotected if you would like to be eligible for the giveaway.

What time do you choose your winners each day?

5pm EDT.

I live in the Mountain/Pacific/Central timezone, what time is 5pm EDT here?

Seriously? LMGTFY.

What if I enter after 5pm EDT after the day's winner is chosen?

Any tweets sent in after 5pm EDT with the #Squarespace included will be counted toward the following day's entries. So one entry cycle day runs from 5:01pm EDT to 4:59pm EDT the following day.

Where are you announcing the winners each day?

We will tweet out the winner from our official @Squarespace twitter account at 5pm EDT, AND post the winner on our official rules page at: http://www.squarespace.com/iphone

Do I have to follow @Squarespace in order to win?

Nope. No need to follow us in order to win, though if you do, you'll know right away if you are the lucky winner for that day!

How long is the giveaway going on?

30 days, from Monday, June 8th through Tuesday, July 7th, 2009.

Are you giving away iPhones on Saturdays & Sundays too?

Yep!

Do I have to be a U.S. resident in order to enter?

No.

What if iPhone service is not available in my country?

Well, that's a bummer. However, since we are giving you an Apple gift card for $199, you may use it to purchase whatever Apple good/service that you'd like.

Will you be paying for my cellular/data network plan if I win?

No. That will be your responsibility.

Do you have to sign an AT&T contract if you win?

Well, not from our end. HOWEVER, if you choose to use your $199 Apple gift card to purchase an iPhone and IF you live in the U.S., AT&T is currently the only cellular provider that supports it. So IF you choose to buy an iPhone and IF you want it to work, you will need to sign up with AT&T in order for it to do so. That's totally up to you, though. For more information on AT&T's cellular plans and pricing, please visit their website.

Does kissing up help my chances of winning?

Not at all, but we do appreciate all the kind words and creative tweets.

I'm already a Squarespace customer...does this help my chances of winning?

While this giveaway is open to everyone, we are hoping that over a period of 30 days, we'll likely get to give away some iPhones to some of our fave Squarespace users!

How old do I have to be to enter the giveaway?

Old enough to have a Twitter account.

I have a question that wasn't answered here...how do I find out the answer?

Leave us a comment! We'll try to answer as many questions as we can.
